boy. James Anthony married Janice Wieling 2 Jul 1966. They continue to live on the Meyer family farm near Fort Atkinson and are the parents of three boys and one girl. Daniel Thomas married Marilyn Jean Praska 26 Dec 1970. They live in Garden Grove, CA with their two sons. Peter Richard married Marge Arlene Lechtenberg 27 Nov 1969. They live in Cypress, CA and have two daughters. Regressing a bit: Daniel Meyer, or "Dan”, and his family tell about moving day to the new farm from the “old homestead” in 1912. Dan hitched up his dog, Sport, to his wagon loaded with his treasures and took off to their new home three miles away. Later Dan wrote the date of arrival in the attic for remembrance. The house was a beautiful, new house, three stories above a full basement. It had hot water heat, electric lights and hot and cold running water piped in from the spring. One of the nicest houses in the area! Minnie Meyer used to tell about her mother-in-law, Barbara (Schmitt) Meyer walking to church at Festina (a distance of seven miles) because that was the closest Catholic church. Another item of interest, when Peter Meyer Sr. returned from a visit to town, he was told that a large snake had came and swallowed a pig. Eventually it was learned that the hired man had taken pigs home for his own use. In closing, another story about Barbara Schmitt Meyer. She used to rock her children and grandchildren to sleep with a poem written by Charles Hindley, “Men in Horseless Carriages Fly”. It went in part: Through hills man shall ride,
Meyer, Keith and Brenda (Bietiker)Keith Alvin Meyer was born to Orville V. and Ora Gene (Oestman) Meyer. He graduated from Postville High School and began farming at home. Keith married Brenda Bietiker 3 Apr 1982. Brenda was born in Monticello, IA to Jacob and Ruth (Topping) Bietiker. She graduated from Monticello High School and attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids. She received her B.S. in Nursing at Upper Iowa University in Fayette. She is now employed as Supervisor of Obstetrics at Prairie du Chien, Wl. Keith and Brenda and family live on the Meyer home farm in Bloomfield Twp. Keith milked cows and raised pigs until 1986. At this time he became self-employed in the carpentry business and is now manager of Meyer Construction Company. The Meyer family are members of Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia. Keith has served on the church council and Brenda has served as president of the Zion Women of the ELCA. Brenda is a Girl Scout leader and Keith is a Boy Scout leader. They both take an active interest in the 4-H Clubs. Their children are Ashley Kay, born in Cedar Rapids; Alexander Jacob, born at Prairie du Chien; and Andrew Victor, born at Prairie du Chien. Meyer, Kenneth F. and Rebecca (Reierson)(Gwenn Koenig) Kenneth Frederick Meyers was born to Orville V. and Ora Gene (Oestman) Meyer. He graduated from Postville High School and began farming. Kenneth married Rebecca Reierson 4 Jun 1991 at the Oakhill Park near their home. Rebecca was born at Postville, IA to Robert and Mary Reierson. Kenneth and Rebecca have been previously married. Kenneth has lived in Bloomfield Twp. all his life. He is now farming the Meyer family farm and has purchased a neighboring farm previously owned by Chester and Edna Green. Kenneth is a Bloomfield Cemetery Association Trustee and is responsible for the care of the Oakhill Cemetery. He is a Director of the Farmers Co-op. Society of Postville. Kenneth and Rebecca “Becky” are members of the Winneshiek Co. Farm Bureau. They raise hogs, cattle, corn and soybeans on their 380 acres. Becky owns and operates the Millstone Emporium in Postville, an antique and gift shop. The Meyer family are members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. Their children are Cory Bacon; Sally Bacon; Michael Meyer; and Allison Meyer. Meyer, Kenneth V. and Nancy (Billings)(Nancy Meyer) Kenneth Vincent Meyer was born at Postville, IA to Valder and Marie (Wangsness) Meyer. He attended school in Castalia and graduated from Ossian High School. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He graduated from Upper Iowa University, Fayette, IA. He married Nancy Billings 11 Nov 1961. Nancy Billings, daughter of Clarence and Sadie (Harvey) Billings, was born at Fort Madison, IA at the home of her aunt and uncle, Ivan and Roxie Morrow. She attended Lincoln Grade School, the public junior high and graduated from Fort Madison High School. Upon graduation she attended Coe College and St. Luke’s Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse. Nancy and Kenneth met while both were working in Cedar Rapids. Nancy was employed at St. Luke’s Hospital in the Operating Suite, primarily assisting with orthopedic surgeries. Kenneth began employment in 1961 with United Fire and Casualty Insurance Company. Nancy and Kenneth were transferred to Cedar Falls for approximately a year and then returned to Cedar Rapids. The family purchased a home in Marion, IA.
